SA: SA Premier to pay tribute to fire fighters who died

ADELAIDE, Feb 16 AAP - South Australian Premier John Olsen will pay tribute to the
state's volunteers who died fighting fires during a memorial service at Mount Lofty Summit,
southeast of Adelaide, today.

The service, in memory of the 11 Country Fire Service volunteers who have died fighting
fires, marks the 18th anniversary of the 1983 Ash Wednesday bushfires.

Mr Olsen said the community would be in debt to those firefighters forever.

"There is no way the community can repay those firefighters who lost their lives defending
other people's properties and lives," he said in a statement.

"They symbolise all that is good within a community, a state, a nation."
