Daredevil children and teenagers zooming and cartwheeling at the city's skateboarding arena more than doubled in number last year, according to the city's recreation director.
In her annual report, Linda Terricola told the City Council on Monday that the city Recreation Commission hopes to build an indoor skateboarding facility; that its summer clinics were either self-sustaining or profitable; and that a teen program at the local YMCA may be expanded with state help.
"It was a very good year," Terricola said Tuesday from the driver's seat of a station wagon filled with athletic trophies and gym equipment. …
